These are literally like the Registrars we are aware of in real life and maintain a list of domain names as well as register new ones. These resellers pay a fixed flat fee per domain name to their registrar, but they have the liberty of charging their clients any rate they wish to.

3) Managed DNS: This is an advanced but highly useful utility that allows you to modify your MX (mail exchange), A, CNAME and SOA entries. This is useful when you want to have different mail servers than your website or if you want to setup sub-domains etc.
